Updating Software from before v1.30

This page describes in detail how a customer using Infinite Pre-Algebra (prior to version 1.30) or Infinite Algebra 1 (prior to version 1.30) and who was never given a product serial number (such as 1–A1XP–12MG–JWT9–LMAH) can update to a current version. You may wish to bookmark this page until you have completed all of the steps.
Installing this update is completely voluntary. This update adds or replaces existing functionality to your software. Even if you follow the directions exactly, you may render the software unusable for a period of time due to your system configuration (ie. limited user rights) or unknown compatibility issues. We strongly recommend that you only install this update in the presence of the person who originally installed your software.
- User Rights
Be sure that you have the administrative rights on your computer to uninstall software and to perform a per-machine installation of new software. Home users probably have these rights. At school, you will probably need to have tech support complete steps 4 and 5.
- Software Activation
All current versions of our software require activation. If your computer has Internet access, then activation should take about one minute. Activation on a computer that does not have Internet access can be done over the phone but is only possible during business hours and will takes five to ten minutes.
- Product Serial Number
Look up the product serial number we have assigned you on this page. This number is required for installation. Do not proceed without it. You need a different product serial number for each program. Please keep a copy of your number in a safe place. Note: The product serial number look-up page can be found in the future by clicking on the Support link.
- Uninstall
Remove the previous version from your computer by clicking on Add/Remove Programs from your computer's Control Panel (click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs). Failure to remove previous versions may result in the incorrect functioning of both the new and the old versions.
- Download-Install-Activate New Version
Visit the download page and follow the directions found there. Note: The download page can be found again by clicking on the Support link.
- Note
Future updates can be installed by simply clicking Help > Check for Updates from within the software itself.
